Morning Star

In 2007, Penn State participated in its first Solar Decathlon design build competition. The Penn State team was met with the challenge of designing, building, and transporting a net-zero home for competition in Washington, D.C. The resulting design, Morning Star, led to a fourth place finish in the field of twenty international universities. This home is entirely powered by renewable energy, and even has capabilities of powering electric vehicles. It currently functions as a learning space and is located next to Beaver Stadium. Many also use this home to research energy efficiency, renewable energy, and smart grid systems.
