Full Circle
Our team partnered with Ferguson Township and Centre County Housing and Land Trust to design a set of attached single family homes that will mix moderate income and workforce housing at the Turnberry Development, located two miles from Penn State University. We designed this set of town homes with the intent of bridging the home and garden. The Turnberry development is located at the site of the former Penn State Circleville Farm, so we designed the homes and site in a way to thoughtfully integrate farming, gardening, and food with the homes. Additionally, the Full Circle home fostered social interaction between tenants by promoting the use of community green spaces near the town homes. Each unit also interacted by distributing construction costs between multiple homeowners and balancing the performance results in order to create one unified property. As a result, the Full Circle homes were able to utilize the agricultural history of the site and the Circleville Farm and promote social interaction, while still creating an energy-efficient, net zero home.
